Everyone likes to win something. The satisfaction that comes with recognition of our achievements is undeniable, and it’s nice to be able to objectively say that, even if only for one shining moment, you were the best. In Subaru’s case, it was actually four shining moments, and they apply to the entire 2015 model year. Even though we’re only partway through the month, it’s already been a stellar one for Subaru, and has included several honors, both for individual models and the automaker as a whole. Below, we explore some of Subaru’s springtime victories.
Eventually, you’ll need to sell your current vehicle. And whether it’s three, five or even ten or more years from now, you’ll want to have a vehicle that’s held its value and can help you recoup your investment. That’s why each year, Kelley Blue Book puts out a list of the vehicles with the best resale value: those which are made of high-quality parts and materials that stand the test of time. We’re proud to say that for 2015, Subaru has won the award for overall brand with the best residual value, plus three individual awards in the compact, midsized and sporty compact car categories.
KBB.com praised Subaru for its versatility, wide appeal and value. “The Subaru appeal — smart ultra-practicality combined with one of the best low-traction all-wheel-drive systems around — wins fandom with new-car buyers and when resale time comes,” they write in their overview. KBB.com also notes the stellar sales Subaru has had over the past year, as it set sales records that have been unrivalled by the brand in decades and in some cases, as we’ve covered, ever. 2014 also marked a year in which every vehicle in the Subaru lineup was an IIHS Top Safety Pick.
KBB.com also gives individual awards to vehicles across a variety of categories, and there Subaru again made a distinct impression. The 2015 Subaru Impreza won for best compact car, where its value and fuel efficiency were cited as saving money at the beginning, middle and end of its lifespan. The midsized car award went to the 2015 Subaru Legacy, a car whose new-model-year redesign has been making waves since its debut. Finally, the 2015 Subaru WRX saw a win in the sporty compact car category, where its long list of standard features and impressive engine shot it ahead of the competition. Subaru also saw a second-place win in the hybrid SUV/crossover category for the 2015 Subaru XV Crosstrek Hybrid.
2014 was a great year for Subaru, and with this announcement 2015 has started off on an equally phenomenal note. Come see any of these incredible cars at our Subaru dealership in Lakewood, NJ, and celebrate this latest victory with us!
Ever since its debut, the completely redesigned 2015 Subaru Legacy has been knocking it out of the park. It swept the safety category, earning the IIHS’ Top Safety Pick+ award as well as a five-star safety rating from the NHSTA, with perfect scores in every area from both organizations. It’s led Subaru to its best sales months of all time, and is looking to pull it toward its best sales year ever. To top it all off, it’s earned unparalleled rave reviews from critics and consumers alike. What could possibly make this a better year for the Legacy? Being the very best, like no one ever was.
The Car Connection has named the 2015 Subaru Legacy its Best Car to Buy for the 2015 model year. The competition was stiff, as the 11 finalists included luxury models like the Mercedes-Benz C-Class and GLA-Class as well as perennial favorites such as the Ford F-150 and Mustang. Still, the Legacy — which earned an 8.8 of 10 overall score from TCC’s expert reviewers — trumped them all due to its “game-changing” nature and great value.
“The 2015 Subaru Legacy gets the award this year, and it’s the value factor, including standard all-wheel drive, that really nudges it ahead of every other contender,” said Bengt Halvorson, TCC’s deputy editor. “The Legacy’s safety credentials, with EyeSight, rival what’s offered in luxury cars with several times the sticker price.”
“The value for the money here is indisputable. Just as Subaru did with the Forester that won this award last year, the automaker has taken what used to be a niche sedan and updated it for mainstream appeal. You may not have thought to put it on your list next to nameplates like Altima, Accord, or Fusion—but now, you should,” he added in a Washington Post editorial.
It’s hard to imagine how things could get any better for the Legacy (and for Subaru), but if you haven’t yet tried out this amazing vehicle, things could certainly get better for you! Test-drive the 2015 Subaru Legacy today at our Lakewood, NJ Subaru dealership and see for yourself why this is the best car to buy.
The needs of drivers are unique and varied, which is why there are so many types of vehicles with such diverse features and specifications. The one thing everyone can agree on, however, is the importance of safety. The peace of mind and body that comes from knowing your vehicle will protect you should the worst come to pass is an invaluable constant that influences every purchase. At our Subaru dealership in Lakewood, NJ, we are proud to say we sell some of the safest vehicles on the road, from compact sedan to SUV and everywhere in between.
Each of the 2015 Subaru vehicles has been honored as a Top Safety Pick by the IIHS, and three of those– the Forrester, Legacy, and Outback– received the ultimate Top Safety Pick+ nod that denotes an especially secure vehicle. The two midsized sedans listed above knocked it out of the park, seeing perfect scores in every single test run by the IIHS, including the notoriously challenging Small Overlap Front crash test. In fact, Subaru has the most Top Safety Pick awards of any vehicle manufacturer in 2014, a remarkable perfect seven. This means that no matter what brand-new 2015 Subaru you buy, you can rest assured that you are getting the absolute best in safety features and scores.
So no matter who you are or where you’ll be taking your Subaru, whether you’re loading the kids up in your Forrester and heading to school or loading the kayaks up in the Outback and heading to the lake, you can get from A to B knowing you’re safe. There’s nothing quite like the contentment that comes with security, and you can have both with your new Subaru!
“We are thrilled to have hit this milestone in August,” said Thomas Doll, the president and COO of Subaru. “Thanks to our strong products and continued accolades, our sales momentum is strong and I am confident that Subaru will achieve an all-time sales record for 2014.”
“We are very pleased with the strong retail traffic and demand for our vehicles,” agreed Jeff Walters, their senior VP of sales. “Our retailers continue to sell at record levels of efficiency and we cannot thank them enough for their outstanding sales efforts.”
With 50,246 vehicles sold, August’s numbers mark a 22% increase over sales during the same time period last year. Additionally, this is the 33rd consecutive month in which Subaru has seen year-to-year sales growth, meaning that this upward trend began way back in 2011. Overall, sales for Subaru have increased 19% this year, a stunning testament to the ongoing innovation and commitment to customer satisfaction of both the manufacturer and its dealerships.
August was the first full month that the all-new 2015 Subaru Legacy and 2015 Subaru Outback were on sale, and transactions shattered previous records. The Outback sold 12% more vehicles in comparison to last August, while the Legacy sold a whopping 51% more. Other models leading the sales charge included the Forester (25% increase), WRX (19% increase), and the XV Crosstrek (a jaw-dropping 73% increase).
With so much to offer, it’s no surprise that so many people are flocking to Subaru to meet their needs. If these innovative, affordable vehicles interest you, do as so many others did last month and head on down to our Lakewood, NJ Subaru dealership to test-drive your perfect Subaru vehicle today!
There’s nothing quite so satisfying as a perfect score, a “100%” that you can tuck safely away as proof you excelled. When it comes to being graded on safety measures, that score suddenly takes on a whole other dimension– one that is incredibly important. Safety scores such as the annual IIHS test results are more than a determiner of pride; they are also what assure car buyers that the vehicle they purchase was built with their lives in mind. For these reasons, we at the Pine Belt family of dealerships are thrilled to report that the 2015 Subaru Legacy has received the IIHS’ highest honor, the Top Safety Pick+ award.
In fact, the Legacy did more than earn the highest honor given; it passed each crash exam with flying colors, earning the highest ranking of “Good” in all metrics. This includes the notoriously difficult Small Front Overlap test, which has been baffling most brands and vehicles since its introduction several years ago. Overall front crash prevention in the four-door sedan was designated “superior,” the highest ranking of six, an impressive score helped significantly by Subaru’s state-of-the-art front crash prevention system, which sense oncoming crashes and attempts to minimize damage.
According to the IIHS’ press release, “The dummy’s movement was well-controlled [during the crash], and the frontal and side curtain airbags worked together to protect the head from contact with interior structures. Ratings for restraints, dummy kinematics, and injury measures for the head and neck, chest, pelvis, and legs and feet are all good.”
This is the second year in a row the Legacy has been a Top Safety Pick+ winner, and so far in 2014 Subaru is the manufacturer with the most Top Safety Pick brands. The impressive performances of vehicles such as the Outback, BRZ, Impreza, Forester, WRX and XV Crosstrek in addition to the Legacy go to show exactly how important driver safety is to the designers and manufacturers at every stage of production.
The 2015 Subaru Legacy is impressing across the board, first with its complete exterior redesign, its interior features and now its safety scores. If you want to try one out for yourself, schedule a test-drive at our Lakewood, NJ Subaru dealership and see the difference today!
The 2015 Subaru WRX STI continued to show its road racing prowess last week when it broke its own four-wheel lap record at the famous Isle of Man TT course, previously set in 2011 by the 2010 WRX STI. Mark Higgins navigated the sharp turns and fast elevation changes of the 37.8-mile course in just 19 minutes and 26 seconds earlier this month, marking an average clip of 116 mph and top speed of 160 mph!
Perhaps most astounding, Higgins raced around the course in a Subaru WRX STI that’s much like the one you can buy at a Subaru dealership today. The only modifications were to the springs and dampers so that the car could survive the course’s high-speed bumps and jumps without significant damage. Even the turbocharged 2.5-liter Subaru Boxer engine comes standard with the 2015 WRX STI.
“It was quite a lap we did today and I am really happy to have another record in the bank,” Higgins said after the race. “The chassis of the new car is so much better it really allowed me to pick up time in each sector in the more technical parts of the course.”
When you pick up your new Subaru vehicle at our New Jersey Subaru dealership in Lakewood, NJ, we don’t recommend that you try to break records like a professional rally car driver.
