Jeep Unveils Fun Concepts for Annual Easter Safari, Part 1

The annual Jeep Easter Safari – now in its 49th year – is a gleeful celebration of Jeep fandom. Jeep faithful from across the U.S. make a pilgrimage to Moab, Utah, in order to participate in a nine-day trail-riding adventure with a plethora of likeminded motorists. Jeep itself gets in on the fun, going all-out in designing cool, one-of-a-kind concept cars.

After the jump, we’ll take a look at the three of the seven unique Jeep vehicles that debuted this year, from customized Jeep Wrangler trekkers to a blast from the past.

Jeep Lego Set Goes for the Same as a Real Car

1968 Lego JeepIt’s no secret that when you buy a used Jeep vehicle you can get some real bargains. With their rugged longevity and timeless look, there’s a big market for well-loved old Jeep SUVs. Last week, a seller on eBay got a cool grand for his old Jeep, a 1968 retro Willys army model. Except this Jeep was made of bricks. Tiny, wooden bricks. The Jeep was a Lego set, and it went for more than some modern vehicles that can actually serve as transport will sell for on AutoTrader.

What was so special about this old Lego set that it merited selling for more than some people pay a month in rent? Well, for one, it had never been opened — quite a feat considering this was a toy manufactured for children, who are known for their violent propensity to open things. It was also exceedingly rare, from before Lego was the worldwide phenomenon it is today; in fact, this set entered the U.S. market before Lego even had a U.S. headquarters. The toys were distributed by Samsonite, the luggage company. This means that very, very few were ever produced, and the “LEGO Jeep 330 set,” as it’s known, was actually a British toy that was hastily repackaged for quick sales across the pond. These factors all collided into a kitschy supernova that resulted in the sale of a tiny Lego Jeep set for more than $1,000.

While the willingness of people to spend large sums of money on things whose value is ever-relative shouldn’t come as much of a surprise, that it’s possible to buy a real, non-replica, full-sized Jeep for that price or less adds an amusing facet to the whole situation that is sure to infuriate the utilitarian among us. A quick browse of produces a 1993 Grand Cherokee Laredo going for $795, among other results.

At the end of the day, though, you can’t put monetary value on emotional fulfillment, and we’re willing to bet the lucky winner of the auction is more than happy with their purchase!

Jeep Renegade Trailhawk Shows Its Stuff, Takes on Dunes with Wild Abandon

It’s no secret that the 2015 Jeep Renegade has brought a certain adorability to the Jeep lineup that hasn’t been there before. The baby of the Jeep family in multiple senses of the word, this compact crossover is the smallest vehicle Jeep offers, with a look that may make the Jeep faithful scoff. However, while you may be tempted, as some have put it, to “pat it on the head and buy it an ice cream cone,” a recent video series released by Jeep makes it clear that this little guy is an off-roader at heart and a Jeep through and through.

Called “Tales of the Trailhawk,” the videos show a 2015 Renegade Trailhawk edition fly through deep water, tackle the steepest uphill and downhill slopes and carve up sandy dunes as though it were on freshly paved road. Its impressive feats of athleticism and agility highlight Trailhawk-trim features such as hill descent control, Jeep’s Active Drive Low four-wheel drive system, 17-inch alloy wheels, the Selec-Terrain system that lets you tell the Renegade what to prepare for and 0.8-inch lift with off-road suspension. After seeing all these incredible off-road abilities in action, you’ll wonder why anyone would ever doubt the Renegade’s ability to, well, go renegade.

You can see the impressive “Going  Vertical” below and head here for the rest of the Tails of the Trailhawk videos. To take advantage of big performance in this small package yourself, stay tuned to our Jeep dealership near Lakewood, NJ. The 2015 Jeep Renegade hits dealerships this coming spring, and we can hardly wait!

2015 Jeep Renegade

Jeep Projected to Sell a Cool Million Vehicles in 2014

2015 Jeep RenegadeIn any industry, a 37% sales increase in just 12 months is an ambitious goal, but this would seem particularly true in the oft-encumbered automotive sector. Nonetheless, back in January, that was exactly what Chrysler Group CEO Sergio Marchionne predicted for the Jeep brand. He called upon Jeep dealers the world over to buckle down and bring the annual sales from 731,565 all the way up to a million. It was such an ambitious goal that even Jeep president Mike Manley expressed some reservations: “It’s a stretch to say we would do it in ’14, but if not in ’14, we should certainly be on track in ’15.”

Fast forward nine months, though, and Marchionne’s big talk is looking Increasingly prescient. With September sales records in, Jeep has already surpassed last year’s mark with sales of about 747,000, and the steady month-by-month increases put Jeep on track to hit that oh-so-ambitious 1-million mark.

“The biggest part, and what we’re proudest of … is that every Jeep is up,” Jeep marketing director Jim Morrison said to The Detroit News. “We’re not taking all of our customer base and rejuvenating them; we’re bringing new customers to the brand and every Jeep is continuing to grow.”

The sales numbers have been powered by the overwhelming success of classic Jeep models like the Wrangler, Cherokee and Grand Cherokee, and hopes that the new baby of the family, the 2015 Jeep Renegade, will add additional oomph to the numbers when it becomes available a bit later this year. The combined efforts of the old and the new are expected to push the figures over the one-mil mark.

“They’re growing like crazy and I don’t see any reason to think that they will not continue in that direction,” said Kelley Blue Book senior analyst Karl Brauer.

Come see for yourself what all the fuss is about at our Jeep dealership in Lakewood, NJ. From the sporty new Renegade to the classic appeal of the crossover Grand Cherokee, there’s a Jeep vehicle for everyone, and everyone is certainly responding in kind!
