Back in September, we told you about the innovative online factory tour Chrysler was offering to help drivers connect with the all-new Chrysler 200. Using special Google Maps navigation, visitors to the web site explored the plant in a way never before possible, seeing the birth of a Chrysler 200 vehicle from start to finish. For the 2014 LA Auto Show, Chrysler kicked it up a notch: it teamed up with Oculus VR to offer a 4-dimensional virtual reality tour of the 2015 Chrysler 200 factory called “Beneath the Surface.”
The tour lasted for about four minutes and was created using the Oculus Rift DK2 headset. This one-of-a-kind experience allowed travelers to make their way through the five-million-square-foot Sterling Heights facility as though they were inside the 200 as it was being built. With a special rumble pack installed in the seat, voiceover instructions and ambient sound effects, the experience was brought to life with a bang. When wearing the headset, the user is taken through the three main aspects of the car’s construction — the Body Shop, where the frame is welded together; the Paint Shop, where users watch how the car is made ready to take on a special sheen (a process that apparently requires ostrich feathers); and the Metrology Center, where the new baby is given a thorough inspection by industry experts to make sure everything is as it should be.
The 2015 Chrysler 200 rolls out of the plant exactly how it was intended, as the “new face of Chrysler” and everything a sporty sedan should be. Of course, if you’re on the virtual tour the experience ends when the car is just about ready to be driven. In real life, you can pick things up at the most exciting part by paying a visit to our New Jersey Chrysler dealership and taking the 200 for a spin! Check out the promo video below for a taste of the tour experience, or head on over to Chrysler’s web site to try the online version yourself.
Ever since its debut, the completely redesigned 2015 Subaru Legacy has been knocking it out of the park. It swept the safety category, earning the IIHS’ Top Safety Pick+ award as well as a five-star safety rating from the NHSTA, with perfect scores in every area from both organizations. It’s led Subaru to its best sales months of all time, and is looking to pull it toward its best sales year ever. To top it all off, it’s earned unparalleled rave reviews from critics and consumers alike. What could possibly make this a better year for the Legacy? Being the very best, like no one ever was.
The Car Connection has named the 2015 Subaru Legacy its Best Car to Buy for the 2015 model year. The competition was stiff, as the 11 finalists included luxury models like the Mercedes-Benz C-Class and GLA-Class as well as perennial favorites such as the Ford F-150 and Mustang. Still, the Legacy — which earned an 8.8 of 10 overall score from TCC’s expert reviewers — trumped them all due to its “game-changing” nature and great value.
“The 2015 Subaru Legacy gets the award this year, and it’s the value factor, including standard all-wheel drive, that really nudges it ahead of every other contender,” said Bengt Halvorson, TCC’s deputy editor. “The Legacy’s safety credentials, with EyeSight, rival what’s offered in luxury cars with several times the sticker price.”
“The value for the money here is indisputable. Just as Subaru did with the Forester that won this award last year, the automaker has taken what used to be a niche sedan and updated it for mainstream appeal. You may not have thought to put it on your list next to nameplates like Altima, Accord, or Fusion—but now, you should,” he added in a Washington Post editorial.
It’s hard to imagine how things could get any better for the Legacy (and for Subaru), but if you haven’t yet tried out this amazing vehicle, things could certainly get better for you! Test-drive the 2015 Subaru Legacy today at our Lakewood, NJ Subaru dealership and see for yourself why this is the best car to buy.
It’s no secret that the 2015 Jeep Renegade has brought a certain adorability to the Jeep lineup that hasn’t been there before. The baby of the Jeep family in multiple senses of the word, this compact crossover is the smallest vehicle Jeep offers, with a look that may make the Jeep faithful scoff. However, while you may be tempted, as some have put it, to “pat it on the head and buy it an ice cream cone,” a recent video series released by Jeep makes it clear that this little guy is an off-roader at heart and a Jeep through and through.
Called “Tales of the Trailhawk,” the videos show a 2015 Renegade Trailhawk edition fly through deep water, tackle the steepest uphill and downhill slopes and carve up sandy dunes as though it were on freshly paved road. Its impressive feats of athleticism and agility highlight Trailhawk-trim features such as hill descent control, Jeep’s Active Drive Low four-wheel drive system, 17-inch alloy wheels, the Selec-Terrain system that lets you tell the Renegade what to prepare for and 0.8-inch lift with off-road suspension. After seeing all these incredible off-road abilities in action, you’ll wonder why anyone would ever doubt the Renegade’s ability to, well, go renegade.
