Google has teamed up with Chrysler to offer a never-before-seen peek into what it takes to build the 2015 Chrysler 200, a one-of-a-kind virtual factory tour of its Sterling Heights Assembly Plant. Using Google Maps technology, visitors to Chrysler200Factory.com can navigate the plant as though they were using Maps’ Street View system, using either a computer or mobile device to get a 360-degree look around the five-million-square-foot complex. You can explore on your own or in conjunction with a series of videos that create the experience of a “guided tour” and further explain exactly what you’re seeing on the screen.
The star of the show is the 2015 Chrysler 200, from its humble beginnings as an amorphous metal frame being coddled by robotic arms to its slow roll out onto the floor for final inspection. The 12-part tour guides viewers from the Body Shop, where preliminary building happens; through the Meteorology Center, where the frame is checked and rechecked; into the Paint Shop, where it puts on its Sunday best; and lastly to the Final Assembly sector, where it is detailed and inspected. For much of the time the viewer’s camera is inside the body of the car, offering an intimate perspective from which to consider the birth of the vehicle.

With 50,246 vehicles sold, August’s numbers mark a 22% increase over sales during the same time period last year. Additionally, this is the 33rd consecutive month in which Subaru has seen year-to-year sales growth, meaning that this upward trend began way back in 2011. Overall, sales for Subaru have increased 19% this year, a stunning testament to the ongoing innovation and commitment to customer satisfaction of both the manufacturer and its dealerships.
August was the first full month that the all-new 2015 Subaru Legacy and 2015 Subaru Outback were on sale, and transactions shattered previous records. The Outback sold 12% more vehicles in comparison to last August, while the Legacy sold a whopping 51% more. Other models leading the sales charge included the Forester (25% increase), WRX (19% increase), and the XV Crosstrek (a jaw-dropping 73% increase).
